Dorothea Fleiss Studio Visit

This is my new mock up .......I think I will call it God's Eyes

I have been working diligently the past 2 days getting my ideas transferred onto painting surfaces and getting the studio ready for a visit with Dorthea Fleiss who is artist in residence this April at Hampden Gallery. I am looking forward to meeting her and showing her my work.

Fleiss teaches creative studies at the University-level in Stuttgart, Germany, is an abstract painter, and the founder/director of East/West artists Symposium – an artist residency program based in Eastern Europe which has provided workspace, exhibition opportunities, and networking for over 600 international artists in its ten year history. Fleiss is available for critiques, talks, and workshops during her stay and has an installation now showing at Hampden Gallery (Wednesday, April 1 - Saturday, April 11)

Also showing at Hampden

Anticipating The Art of The Future
Wednesday, April 1 - Thursday, April 30

This project was inspired by a ceremony Thomas Matsuda initiated on Hiroshima Day 2006, while attending the Dorthea Fleiss Residency/ Symposia in Romania.

Hi Alicia,
I hope you are not offended by my saying that I liked your earlier version of this image much more. Of course it's just my opinion, but I thought that one was more unusual and could be interpreted in many diverse ways. I liked that it appeared as pattern first and eyes secondly.
Best,
Nancy

Hi Nancy, Its all good!
I don't mind getting imput....
actually in posting images I hope to get some:-)
This work is new and different to me...I have no Idea where I am going with it so I am tring lots of ideas......What I did like about this piece was the diamond shape the little eyes made...it is leading me to another place...and so the process goes! I've been meaning to ask you if you enjoyed your experience with the Weather Photo Project? -A-

I was telling myself that I should have kept my opinions to myself, so I'm glad that you welcome feedback.

I had a great time with the weather photo project. It really made me look around and take note of what was going on. I wish that my partner(s) had been more responsive because it seemed that they rarely went out of doors and lived in a big apartment building. A lot of their shots were interiors and not really about weather. But it was fun anyway. Thanks for putting me on to it.

Hope you have a good visit with Dorothea. The Chair of our wax group, Kim Bernard, met Dorothea last weekend since she belongs to Boston Sculptors as Mary Sherman also does. We are thinking about proposing an encaustic show of work by our members to travel to Dorothea's gallery space in Stuttgart. It's a small world.

Alicia Hunsicker's art is undeniably beautiful. She is an expert at extracting the highly-detailed textures and fibers of the human body, bringing them from darkness, into the light, with a technical precision that rivals any modern-day master.
