Collaborative Drawing Project & Exhibition



I am excited to be participating in Hampden Gallery’s Collaborative Drawing Project. Kathleen Cammarata a Lowell artist will go over various collaborative drawing techniques with the participants. Hampden Studio Gallery will be ready for possibilities as it is covered with paper from top to bottom and then we will go for it!....Two days of work that will climax in an exhibition with an opening reception on Saturday April 3 from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm

The collaborating artists include a recent BFA graduate and a third year candidate in the MFA program of the UMASS Art Department, as well as 2 professional artists from Massachusetts and 1 visiting artist from Transylvania, Romania who is also a PhD candidate in Bucharest.

Collaborative Drawing

When two or more artists work on the same drawing a new kind of imagery emerges. The artists give up ownership of the end product there by breaking new ground and discovering new aesthetic choices. The process is experimental. Participants will be moving around the room to engage in various parts of the drawing without completing a personal piece. No reference materials are necessary. A fertile imagination is very helpful
