Paper Girl Installation at Thornes, Northampton

Here are some photos from the Installation Day for the Paper Girl Project, Northampton at the Thornes Basement location (I see 2 of my pieces here). They have a nice variety of artists and work with over 300 pieces donated to be distributed randomly on Sept 12th.

This show was fresh and inviting.
I entered without a preconceived idea of what the art would be....
I was very energized by the easily seduced quality of the work. It made me go home immediately and start journaling and drawing myself.
The work hanging at Downstairs Thorne's was mostly pen linework and culled from societal images; reminiscences of fifties, boy/girl courtship, images of fur and line animals in ironic poses, or with thoughts occurring to them. IT was fun to get inside the heads of these artists. I loved the nostalgic and somehow current images used to make intimate statements. Very human and now.

Alicia Hunsicker's art is undeniably beautiful. She is an expert at extracting the highly-detailed textures and fibers of the human body, bringing them from darkness, into the light, with a technical precision that rivals any modern-day master.
