Intrude: Art & Life 366 at Zendhi MoMA, Shanghai, China

Newest photo on We are having Weather project: Alicia Hunsicker

So I had a great day today full of good news from seeds I planted quite a while ago. First I found out that the We are Having Weather Internet Photography project will be traveling to Zendhi MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) Shanghai, China. Then I found out MY artistic collaboration with 3 other woman called "Eye to Eye" was accepted as well and we have been invited to China to present it. I am going to Shanghai!! Wow!......
I now have some work ahead of me as we will be going in December and I have to fund raise for my airfare and expenses. I am planning to raffle a few paintings. I will post more about that when I have worked out all the details.....

Here is a copy of the Leyden Newsletter press release that I wrote today....

Artist Anne Pehkonen (Finland) will be my new "We are Having Weather" partner

Rainy day Photo outside my studio: Alicia Hunsicker

We are having Weather
Update

I have committed to another round of the International
Photography project to start October 20th.

http://blog.weatherphotos.org/

My partner this time will be the artist Anne Pehkonen

From her website she describes herself "I am a Finnish visual artist. I live in Niva, a small village outside Joensuu city in eastern Finland, near the border of Russia. I work with used and discarded materials and natural materials. I also make performances, installations, videotapes, paintings, prints, drawings and photographs. In my work I combine the aesthetics of old objects and their previous histories with psychoanalytical interpretation of human life. "

Artistic Collaboration

Sunflower Photo by Alicia Hunsicker

So my first stint on the We are having Weather project is over.
I really enjoyed the experience and through the ups and downs of it have learned a
little more about artistic collaboration, communication, and this multicultural world we live in.
I also realized a few things about myself.

I choose my projects with care and once I commit to a project I am very serious about it.
I want to be able to lighten up a little more with my performance and project expectations.
I did go with the flow of it and it was all good! What I enjoyed most was the actual visual communication between me and my partner Evita. I was intrigued with the responses to my photos and the common links we found visually. This was achieved through color,
composition, weather, and emotion.

I have decided to sign up for another 2 week period which in some ways pushes me
to find new ways to express myself with in the perameters of the project and within my neighborhood...... But I realize also (now) that a great deal depends on the partner
I am working with as to what I will be posting. I have two possible partners right now
one from Finland and one from Turkey.
So we will see how this new conversation will transpire.
Looking forward to it!

Weather photo project

Photo : Alicia Hunsicker

The weather photo project has been a catalyst for me to work with
photography on a daily basis. Every day for the last month I have
gotten outside to shoot. Its amazing how the same landscape (my neighborhood)
can change from one day to the next. Or is it the person taking the photos and
how they perceive differently each day?

Today It rained.....hard! I ended up going for a little road trip in
Leyden as a passenger and was inspired by the fall foliage as seen through
the rain on the windshield of the car... as it was moving and bumping around
on the dirt roads......It was quite fun to let go of all the technical things
and see what the experience would bring.....
I clicked the button 243 times in 45 min.
I posted a few other of my favorites from today on the project blog.

Alicia Hunsicker's art is undeniably beautiful. She is an expert at extracting the highly-detailed textures and fibers of the human body, bringing them from darkness, into the light, with a technical precision that rivals any modern-day master.
