Time is flying by.........

The time has been flying by!  I apologize for underestimating the time it would take to finish my rewards. There have been a few obstacles that have taken me by surprise and have pushed back my timeline. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

 Rewards Update:

Coasters:
I had the last bunch of coasters cut this week after  having some problems with the wood splitting in the previous batch.  I am sanding them now and will seal and paint them over the next two weeks.  I have just 6 more sets to do.

 5x7 works on paper:
The paper has been cut to size and 75% of the xerox transfers are done.  The next step has been to seal them with clear gesso which I hope to be finished with this weekend.  Once they are all processed, (about 50 of them!) I will start with the color flourishes and send them out as I finish them.

The 8x10's and eye portraits:
I am estimating that the coasters will need 2 weeks and that the 50, 5x7 paintings will take a little over a month to paint. Then I will be on to the 8x10's and the eye portraits. I will update you as I get closer to working on them.  My goal is to complete this project during the spring.

Thanks again for your wonderful support and patience!  I look forward to completing the rewards and sending you a beautiful token of my appreciation.

"EVERYTHING IS ALIVE, EVERYTHING IS INTERCONNECTED."

Particle Collision #6 of the Beautiful Tangle series
I am pleased to announce that my painting “Particle Collision # 6 of the Beautiful Tangle series will be incorporated into the Omnia Scroll.

The Omnia Scroll" is an ever increasing, continually growing work of art which explores the interconnectedness of all things (Omnia latin all things). Beautiful Tangle Series #4, Alicia Hunsicker, 2013
The Boundless newsletter with photos and stories was emailed out through Mail Chimp on Jan., 7th.  Most of you have seen it now but from the feedback I have received some of the emails ended up in spam and junk folders. I have followed up with sending the link to those connected to me on FB but there are some of you who I am not connected to yet.  As this is one of the rewards I promised my backers I am posting a link here for those of you who want to see how my journey went and enjoy the stunning photos taken in the Alps.

When clicking on the link it will take you to the Mail Chimp site where it is posted.  For those of you who were backers and did not receive the email please take a moment to subscribe to the Newsletter list (upper left corner). For those of you who were not backers and want to receive future newsletters feel free to do the same!

My Sincerest Thanks

Particle Collision #1, 35"x38" Alicia Hunsicker, Austria, 2012

The Boundless project was a great success for both my artistic and personal growth.
It was a challenging and rewarding journey that most assuredly has changed the way I see the world.

Boundless: Artist Residency in Austria and Journey to CERN
Sept. 26, 2012 – October 14, 2012

Places visited:
Geneva, Switzerland
Mallnitz, Austria
Lyon, France

Activities of Note:
Switzerland by train
CERN
D. Fleiss East West artist Residency and Symposium, Mallnitz, Austria
Exhibitions at BIOS National Park Museum, Mallnitz, Austria and ARTour Brussels, Belgium
Day trips to Grossglockner and
Raggaschlucht in Austria.
City tour of Lyon, France which included Roman ruins.

This was inspirational, educational, challenging, supportive and most of all joyous adventure.  It was a wonderful few weeks of art, travel, new friends & cuisine. The paintings I created while at the residency were well received and have continued to open new directions for me as an artist. The image above: Particle Collision #1 is now in the collection of the D. Fleiss East West Foundation.  Austria was amazingly beautiful and I hope to go back someday.

This journey wouldn’t have been possible without the generous support of my Kickstarter project backers and the wonderful friends and fans that helped me get the word out about my project.  Without your pledges, posts, and encouragement I wouldn’t have had such a successful project.

Thank you so much!
Love and Blessings to all, xo ~Alicia

Kickstarter Success!

I have been so busy making plans and getting ready to go to Austria and Switzerland I have not had a moment to blog about the success of my kickstarter project.
I am so thankful to everyone who pledged support to my project.  This is going to be an amazing trip that will inspire me for a very long time!

Dave Rainville of the Greenfield Recorder wrote a nice follow up article about the Residency and the kickstarter compaign.  I will post it if I can find it online.

This is Mallnitz, Austria where I will be living during my residency with the D. Fleiss East West Artists Foundation.  It is the kind of village that they call a "Pearl of the Alps."

Artist Spotlight on the Pagan Sphinx

This just came out yesterday!

Gina Duarte writer of the Pagan Sphinx writes:

“Please visit my blog, The Pagan Sphinx to read my post on Western Massachusetts artist and my friend Alicia Hunsicker. She is a woman of great artistic gifts and keen intellect.
I wish her well in her current fundraising efforts to attend a residency program she as invited to participate in. The residency is in Austria and will include a visit to CERN - The European Organization for Nuclear Research. What does the Higgs Boson Particle have to do with art? Read my article! Best luck, Alicia!”

Half Way There!

Thank you to all my Boundless Backers!
(and future ones too!)

I am a little over the half way mark on my kickstarter campaign for my project Boundless.
13 days left to be exact with an ending date of August 28th.

I am thrilled with the generous support I have received so far!
A big thank you for the special surprise donation I received from Rainer, Washington!

I still need to raise quite a bit more but I am hopeful that it will all work out. Please consider being a backer and getting a great reward in return. I am offering lots of custom made art especially for my backers, eye portraits, hand carved maple burl wands, workshops, and paintings etc.
Check it out…I bet there is something for you!

A successful Kickstarter campaign is usually the result of it being seen by many people, so even if you aren't interested in doing any of the pledges it would be great if you would share this link with friends and family, on facebook and any other social media you are involved with.

Thank you!  :o)

Pledges and Rewards

Besides original art created especially for my backers these are some of the rewards I am offering.
A lot of time and effort went into selecting them, and will also go into making them for this project.

The coasters recently sold out! I have added a few more sets and only one set is left at this moment.

I am trying to come up with an alternate reward for that pledge amount but I am not having any brilliant ideas….yet!

Please consider backing my project and joining me on this journey. Even the smallest pledge can make a world of difference.

Getting Stitched on the Farm

Leyden Glen sheep and neighborhood view photo by Kristen Nicholas
My neighbor Kristin who writes the blog Getting Stitched on the Farm
recently wrote a nice piece about me and the open studio sale that I did last weekend.

I want to thank her for the great post and extra support her followers have added to my kickstarter project: Boundless.

It’s wonderful to live in a neighborhood filled with artists, farms, and small business entrepreneurs. Kristin is not only a wonderful artist, illustrator, and knitwear designer. She also runs a farm with her husband Mark and just across the road is the Lamb shack!
We are big fans of Leyden Glen Lamb’s sweet sausage!
I have recently experimented with a traditional sheppard’s pie recipe by adding the lamb sausage and ground lamb together (instead of Hamburg) topping it with caramelized onions, and then adding the corn and mashed potatoes (I add cream cheese to them!) It has become a family favorite!

Open Studio Success and Stat Trends

This is a photo taken outside my studio door on Sunday, the day of my open studio. I have written an update about it on my kickstarter project page. Click on the link to read about the great day we had.

I also wanted to share with you this fun Stat feature that will keep you updated on the progress of my project: Boundless! Currently I am 31% funded with 18 days to go. Here is the stat page link on kicktraq.

Please consider backing my project and joining me on this journey. A small pledge can make a world of difference.

Alicia Hunsicker's art is undeniably beautiful. She is an expert at extracting the highly-detailed textures and fibers of the human body, bringing them from darkness, into the light, with a technical precision that rivals any modern-day master.
